RMRJP6JR–. Av hvalfangstens historie. Whaling. v. Nordkaperhvalen. ordkaperhvalen — Balaena glacialis — har i almindelighet som voksen en længde av 14,5— 15 m. og opnaar undertiden en længde av 16 m. Den har et i forhold til længden meget stort legemsomfang, idet dette utgjør ca. 10,5 m. Hodets længde er stor i forhold til kroppen, idet den utgjør omkring 1/4 av den hele krops- længde. Mundvinkelen er brat nedstigende, S-formig bøiet. Langs randen av munden er der store hudknuter, hvorpaa gjerne snyltedyr sætter sig fast. Brystfinnene er korte, brede og svakt tilspidsede. Dyrets farve er somoftest helt
