Tom is one of those men who always looks like he just walked out of a Western movie. So it's no surprise that this avid outdoorsman landed several cowboy roles early in his career, starting with his turn as frontier marshal Orrin Sackett in the 1979 TV movie The Sacketts.

We would be remiss if we didn't mention that Tom's co-star in The Sacketts was fellow mustachioed '80s dreamboat Sam Elliott.

No shirt, no problem. In 1980, Tom Selleck burst into the pop culture scene—and into the hearts of viewers everywhere—when he starred in the hit crime drama Magnum, P.I.

Whether he's wearing a suit or swimsuit, Tom is always dressed to kill!

Tom, 1985 called—it wants its heartthrob back. Tom has appeared in more than 50 other film and television roles since Magnum, P.I., but to his original fans, he'll always be Thomas Magnum.

Need a lift? When he wasn't cracking cases on the beach, Tom's iconic character was known for cruising around Hawaii in his famous red Ferrari 308.

Tom met wife Jillie Mack in 1983 after he saw the English actress and dancer in a production of Cats. The couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony on August 7, 1987. They have been married for more than 33 years.

Shortly before leaving Magnum P.I. in 1988, Tom found success on the big screen in the hit comedy Three Men and a Baby, co-starring Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg.

Tom's signature 'stache is almost as famous as he is! Just don't ask him for tips on how to grow a mustache as robust as his. "You either got it or you don't," he told GQ in 2014.

You can take the man out of the ranch, but you can't take the ranch out of the man. Tom has lived on his Ventura, California ranch since 1988, when he quit Magnum P.I. for a quieter life with his family.

He's back! In the mid-90s, Tom returned to the small screen to charm a new generation of fans in his recurring role as Dr. Richard Burke, Monica's love interest on Friends.
