Mädchen Amick has some pretty fond memories of working with Chace Crawford on Gossip Girl. It’s been years since CW’s seminal teen saga went off the air, but by the way Mädchen described her time on the show while on the latest episode of PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing, it feels just like yesterday.
Mädchen, if you recall, had a short stint on the show as the devilish Duchess Catherine Baron, who didn’t let her on-screen marital status get in the way of what she wanted. And what (or should we say, who) she wanted was Nate Archibald, who was played by Chace. She eventually got what she wanted, in the form of a passionate make out in the front seat of a car. “Chace Crawford was so adorable,” she said of her experience working with the actor. “He was so sweet; he’s such a good boy.”
In fact, Mädchen revealed that the make-out session was actually the first scene she filmed with Chace, which might explain his apparent nerves on set. “My very first scene with him was me sitting in his lap, making out with him in car,” she said. “He was so nervous that he kept forgetting his lines.” Luckily for Chace, Mädchen is a highly trained professional, having cut her teeth in shows like the original Twin Peaks. So she did what any acting vet would do for a relative newcomer struggling with an intimate scene. “I would kiss him and then lean into his ear and whisper his line,” she said. “It was so sweet.”
Mädchen, who currently plays Mama Cooper on Riverdale, also discussed her tendency to get cast as someone who likes to cause trouble. Apparently, her onscreen personas couldn’t be further from who she is in real life. “I don’t think I’m anything like that!” she said. We believe you, Mädchen!
