Neon Genesis Evangelion’s debut Blu-ray release in North America won’t just be limited to the pricey Ultimate Edition collection announced earlier this month. Distributor GKids is bringing Hideaki Anno’s influential anime series to Blu-ray and digital formats in a less extravagant form later this year, with a pair of physical releases and a “download-to-own” release.

Gkids’ Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release of Neon Genesis Evangelion will consists of an 11-disc set (featuring the newer “Official” dub and subtitled version, as well as the Classic dub and subtitles) that also includes a 40-page book, seven hours of bonus features (animatics, TV commercials, music videos, Japanese cast auditions, trailers), and eight art cards. Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Collector’s Edition release includes the 26-episode TV series and two follow-up films, Evangelion: Death (True)² and The End of Evangelion.

Described as a limited-edition set, it will be sold online “through select outlets” and arrives Dec. 8. It costs $219.99, and is available for pre-order through GKids and other retailers for $174.99.

A more bare-bones Blu-ray release of Neon Genesis Evangelion, known as the Standard Edition, will consist of a five-disc set featuring “the complete series,” plus more than five hours of bonus features (animatics, TV commercials, music videos, and more). The Standard Edition release arrives Nov. 9 and costs $59.99. It’s available for pre-order for $45.99.

Digital versions of the original 26-episode television series, Evangelion: Death (True)², and The End of Evangelion will also be available to purchase on Nov. 2.

The Neon Genesis Evangelion Ultimate Edition box set is currently sold out through GKids’ online store.

The original TV series, Evangelion: Death (True)², and The End of Evangelion are currently available to stream on Netflix. The Rebuild of Evangelion quadrilogy, including the most recent release, Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, are streaming through Amazon Prime Video.
