CHOOSING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOB

Construction is a demanding field, and with the global construction market - it's also a big one so it's important for the industry to meet the high demands. However, the size of the equipment market can often make choosing the right equipment difficult for people in the construction field. Every piece of construction equipment is designed for a specific purpose. An excavator can be used for digging and demolition. A bulldozer is best used for pushing large quantities of soil, sand, rubble, etc. A loader can be used for pushing and moving concrete, demolition material, rock, etc. A skid steer can be used for smaller jobs to do digging, demolition and moving etc.

So for those with a difficult decision to make, here are a few things to consider that may help make the choice a little bit easier.

• Available Construction Equipment

While you may not want to use a piece of equipment that is past its prime, it's important to consider used machinery. Though their operation and upkeep may be a bit more expensive, it might be much less than the cost of purchasing new equipment.

• Suitability to Job

No matter the equipment you choose, it should be suitable for the job you're performing. For example, you wouldn't use a loader to do an excavator job, because it's more suited to scooping up loose debris from the surface than it is to digging.

• Size of Equipment

The size of the equipment should match the size of the job. If you calculate appropriately, you should be able to determine the proper size of equipment you should be using.

• Spare Part Availability

Ensure the availability of spare parts for the particular make and model of your equipment throughout its working life.  Make sure that your connection in equipment repair services can get you your spare parts right away! By using standard construction equipment parts are easier to find and more affordable to replace if your equipment requires a replacement.

• Versatility

Choose a machine that is inter-convertible if possible, that way it will be able to perform more than just one task. 

• Training

Be sure that your team is well trained to operate the specific equipment that way preventing on-the-job injuries!
