Greensleeves
(To a Ground)
For 1 or 2 flutes and piano (or harp)
Arranged by Ervin Monroe
Published by Little Piper
Includes flute 1 part, flute 2 part, and score
This set of variations was based on a work for recorder written around the 1600's. No one knows the original composer's identity. The piece is composed 'to a ground,' which was a technique used by composers in the 1600's of writing melodic variations over a baseline and/or harmonic passage that was repeated over and over throughout the work. I have made considerable alterations to this earlier version by adding a completely new second part, as well as new variations, and also editing extensively. — Ervin Monroe
