Cheapest suburbs to buy houses close to Brisbane City
Brisbane home ownership dreams don't necessarily have to break the bank.
Nor do they require moving kilometres out of the city.
Prospective home buyers can get a house for less than $300,000 within 10km of the CBD, according to property analysts RP Data.
Rocklea has emerged Brisbane's most affordable place to buy within 10km of the CBD, with a current median house value of $298,796.
Albeit, with a reason.
"Rocklea house values are a bit of an outlier because it was severely inundated by floods," the report reads.
If the thought of living on a flood plain doesn't entice and you're willing to spend a bit more, Chermside West is the next most affordable suburb, with a median house value of $418,735.
The suburb just scrapes within the 10km CBD radius at 9.6km from the city.
Keperra, Virginia and Nathan round out the list.
If a unit is more your style, you can afford to live a bit closer to the city.
Chelmer, just more than 7km from the CBD, offers the best value units, with an average price of $306,415.
Zillmere, Kedron, Tingalpa and Holland Park West round out the top five.
