The Northern Hemisphere’s best rugby players will descend upon Melbourne for an unforgettable week of world class rugby, with the iconic British and Irish Lions to play a pair of blockbusters against the Melbourne Rebels and Wallabies in July 2025.
Scheduled across five action-packed days, the Lions will lock horns with the Rebels at Marvel Stadium on July 22, before turning their attention to a July 26 clash against the Wallabies at the MCG, in what will be the pinnacle of their landmark 2025 Tour of Australia.
The pair of blockbusters marks the first time the Lions have played in Melbourne since their memorable tour match against the Rebels at a sold-out AAMI Park back in 2013.
Today’s announcement is the latest world class rugby event to be held in the Sporting Capital, following the past two Super Round Weekends at AAMI Park, and next week’s upcoming Bledisloe Test at the MCG.
Melbourne Rebels CEO Baden Stephenson, said it promises to be an electrifying week of world class rugby.
“It's only fitting Melbourne will host the biggest week of the 2025 British and Irish Lions Tour of Australia,” said Stephenson.
“Two blockbusters against the Melbourne Rebels and Wallabies over five days. It’s going to be a spectacular week for all Victorians to embrace and enjoy.
“Our Club, community and code has grown significantly since the Lions were last here in 2013. As part of the upcoming ‘Golden Decade’ which includes the 2027 and 2029 Men’s and Women’s World Cups, today’s announcement shows why it’s such an exciting time to be a Victorian rugby fan.
“We’re unbelievably pumped to welcome the British and Irish Lions and their incredible touring fan base back to the Sporting Capital of Australia and we’re excited to showcase Melbourne.”
The British and Irish Lions are set to hit Australian soil in 2025 and a Melbourne Rebels membership is the best way for you to access tickets and support your Rebels.
During the tour, the Rebels will take on the Lions at Marvel Stadium on 22 July, 2025! All eligible 2024 members will have access to purchase tickets to Rebels vs Lions during a pre-sale window (scheduled for early 2024).
And of course, the most anticipated matches of the tour, when the Wallabies take on the Lions in three Test matches to be played in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in 2025. All eligible 2024 members who renew their membership in 2025, will ensure their ballot entries to purchase a ticket to one of the Wallabies vs Lions Test matches.
