Guinea Baboon in the wild at River Gambia National Park.
Another of the highlights of the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project in River Gambia NP are these - I am very familiar with their East and South African cousins, but these were new to me. They share the park with Chimpanzees and Red Colobus - a boon for Mammal Watchers!
The Guinea baboon is a baboon from the Old World monkey family. Some classifications list only two species in the genus ''Papio'', this one and the hamadryas baboon. In those classifications, all other ''Papio'' species are considered subspecies of ''P. papio'' and the species is called the savanna baboon.
