An Outdoor Family Activity - False Bay Beaches and Ocean Shores
Where in the world can you swim in the ocean, laze on the beach, build a sand castle and share these sunny activities with wild and endangered Jackass penguins on the same beach. This is a great False Bay beach for children because the giant granite boulders at Boulders Beach protect its waters from wind and strong currents, making it a calm water beach for the family.Take advantage of a tour booked via the Boulders Visitors Center for a small fee. The tour takes you across the wooden board walks where visitors can view the penguins and their antics. The beach is part of the Table Mountain National Park and knowledgeable staff guide the tours.
Boulders Beach is on Cape Town's Peninsula near Simons Town, making it easy to combine a trip to the Naval Submarine Museum with a trip to the penguins. This is a small beach and space is dependent on the tide. Visit during low tide.
