Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa

Under the direction of PFEIFER, Birdair/PFEIFER as a joint venture were responsible for the installation of the roof trusses for the Cape Town Stadium.

The roof structure is a suspended roof consisting of ring and radial cables as well as radial open-web girders. This substructure carries the roof cladding consisting of laminated safety glass on a steel grating as well as the translucent membrane in the interior.

The filigree design is characterized by a high degree of complexity and a significant number of individual components. The result is impressive with favorable aesthetics and elegance, which confirms that "lightweight construction with cables" is possible even on this scale.
