Bafana Bafana's run to the semi-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has ignited a spark in a strained relationship between them and their supporters. Njabulo Ngidi writes that while the criticism of and poor support for the team is understandable, considering how they have fared in the past, basing our love for Bafana on their success makes us no different to glory hunters. 

I love Bafana Bafana. Even though it was an arranged marriage, I fell in love with Bafana before I cast my eyes on her in 1998. 

It was during the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Burkina Faso. We didn't have a television set at home, so I followed the games on radio with my father.
