Renault's UK arm introduced the brand's first purpose-built hybrid SUV known as the Arkana.
The range comprises of three trim levels - Iconic, S Edition and R.S. Line - and is powered exclusively by electrified powertrains, reinforcing the brand's electrification strategy.
Renault South Africa confirmed there is no indication of local introduction at the moment.
The offered 1.3 and 1.6-litre petrol engines work in conjunction with E-Tech hybrid powertrains in terms of power. The 1.3-litre produces 104kW and 260Nm, allowing the SUV to run from 0-100km/h in n 9.8 seconds. The 1.6-litre, with a 1.2kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors, generates 108kW and 250Nm. The 0-100km/h sprint is done in 10.8 seconds.

The SUV comes standard with 17-inch 'Bahamas' alloy wheels, though 18-inch 'Pasadena' diamond-cut alloys are part of the S Edition and R.S. Line trims. Other exterior bits also include Pure Vision LED lights and electrically adjustable side mirrors.
As one would expect of the top-specced models, the R.S. Line boasts an assertive front bumper, gloss black side mirrors, double chromed tailpipes, and R.S Line badging.
Zanzibar Blue and Flame Red, while Pearl White, Glacier White, Metallic Black and Metallic Grey are the body colour options that can be paired with an optional contrasting black roof.

A 7.0-inch touchscreen features as standard on Iconic models, while S Edition and R.S. Line models get a larger 9.3-inch version - Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted as standard.
Driver assistance systems include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
The Arkana is also a model of safety with features like Active Emergency Braking System with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist, Safety distance warning, tyre pressure monitor and cruise control with speed limiter.
