Bafana Bafana picked up a respectable 1-1 draw against the Super Eagles on Saturday.
It was a good performance against one of Africa's best teams but critics are pointing out that South Africa didn't take enough risks to change their fate in Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
In order to do so Bafana had to beat Nigeria, but they played relatively safe and earned a draw. Now they will have to avoid defeat against Libya to qualify for the Afcon.
That challenge is still fresh in the minds of South African soccer fans, who will have to turn their attention to the Nelson Mandela Challenge match on Tuesday.
