Daimler AG rebrands as Mercedes-Benz Group

Daimler AG rebrands as Mercedes-Benz Group

Daimler AG, the parent company of all Mercedes-Benz passenger car brands, has officially changed its name to Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The rebrand follows the announcement in October 2021 by Daimler that it intended to split its trucking and passenger car businesses into two separate entitles. Daimler Trucks has since started trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Fixing the focus on electric and mobility

Mercedes-Benz Group consists of brands Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach, and Mercedes-EQ. In addition, Daimler Mobility AG is also being renamed and will now be known as Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG to reflect the company’s focus on electrification and mobility.

Ola Källenius, chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said: “The renaming to Mercedes-Benz Group AG underlines our renewed strategic focus. In doing so, we want to make clear where we see the core of our company – building the most desirable cars in the world. The Mercedes star has always been a promise for the future: Changing the present in order to improve it. We want to continue this legacy of our founders by taking the lead in electric mobility and vehicle software.”
