20 Years have gone by since we were first introduced to the young lad living under the staircase at No.4 Privet Drive.

20 Years have gone by since we were first introduced to the young lad living under the staircase at No.4 Privet Drive.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published in 1997 on June 26, and while the first print of the hardcover ran with only a minuscule 500 copies – 300 of them going to libraries – the series has now sold more than 450 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 67 languages.

The wonderful wizarding world created by JK Rowling has hundreds of thousands of would be wizards still dreaming of the day that an owl flies through the window carrying an invitational letter to Hogwarts.

To celebrate the 20-year anniversary Facebook has added a neat little Easter egg, simply write what Hogwarts House you belong to and watch as the worlds come to life with a simple click of your magic wand (mouse).

Here’s to all the wizards out there keep dreaming and don’t let the muggles get you down.
