Gerald Bourguet: “Talking about championships is kind of meaningless. Talk is cheap. It’s what you do every day that’s powerful.” – Mike Budenholzer
Gerald Bourguet: Mike Budenholzer on the Suns, mentioning competing will be their calling card: “We’ve gotta build a team that’s built with competitors…we feel like we can compete for championships here in Phoenix.”
Gerald Bourguet: Mike Budenholzer seems genuinely stoked to coach the Suns as a Holbrook native who great up listening to Al McCoy and idolizing this team: “I would coach this team if it was on the moon…in Alaska, in Denmark…I would go anywhere to coach this team.”
Clemente Almanza: Lu Dort on playing an elimination game: “You really give it everything you got. Don’t wanna go home. It’s not just me, it’s the same feeling for the whole team… We’re gonna give it our best shot.”
Clemente Almanza: Mark Daigneault on if Game 6 is all hands on deck: “We’ve been in that state during the entire playoffs. We try to treat every playoff game like that. Every playoff game is important. It’s the first to 4… It’s not a departure from where we’ve been mentally.”
Kristian Doolittle’s opinion carries some weight, given that he was Alex Sarr’s teammate this year with the Perth Wildcats in the Australian NBL. “It would really be surprising if Alex is not the first pick. We are talking about a guy with the potential to be an elite defensive player in the NBA, and who could become a star in that league if he continues to develop as he has,” said Doolittle.
“When you evaluate a young player of his age, you also look for intangibles, and Sarr has them. He is a player with a high basketball IQ. He knows how to anticipate situations and react quickly to them. He is also a player with a great work ethic, willing to practice his weaknesses and improve his overall game,” said Doolittle.

Cavaliers to look into trading Jarrett Allen?
The Cleveland Cavaliers could reportedly look into moving center Jarrett Allen this offseason amid rumors and speculation regarding Donovan Mitchell’s future with the franchise. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported the following on Friday’s episode of the Hoop Collective: “I would just say that while there’s an extreme interest and excitement probably from certain fanbases to go to the trade machine and work out Donovan Mitchell trades—and maybe those will be needed in a month, we’ll see—I would think the Cavs are going to be spending more time in this next month looking at possible Jarrett Allen trades and what that can bring.”
Bobby Manning: Joe Mazzulla in full (Q: @John_Karalis ): “I think that’s the real answer to what everybody asked all year about, oh, what’s the difference between this year and last year … the difference is we’ve had time and experiences to pull from, and we’ve had time to talk about those. We’ve had time to talk about how we want to go about what our daily process is. We’ve had time to talk about how we want to handle situations. We’ve had time to talk about how we’ve handled past situations. So I think that’s it right there. Throughout the offseason and throughout the season, we’ve had time to build a relationship together, to have open and honest communication about how we want to go about doing things and how you should handle different situations and experiences. The words that you use end up reflecting the type of group that you have or the type of group you want to emulate … how we handle successes and failures together.”
