Age seemed no barrier as they eloped when Jolie was only 24, and Thornton, a seasoned 44-year-old actor and writer, became her husband. When they were together, Thornton spilled:

“I wear her underwear a lot when we’re away. And she wears mine.”

But even amidst their apparent adoration, cracks began to appear. Jolie’s desire to adopt children clashed with Thornton’s reservations, and rumors of infidelity added fuel to the gossip fire. As she worked on the first Tomb Raider film in Cambodia, a turning point awaited her that would alter the trajectory of her life.

Angelina Jolie’s encounter with Cambodia and the adoption of a young boy named Maddox transformed her outlook. Angelina Jolie always wanted to adopt a child and so she did. The experience seemed to widen the emotional chasm between her and Thornton, who was engrossed in his music and career pursuits. The couple had grown apart even before the new addition to their family. Just two years into their passionate marriage, they decided to part ways. Angelina Jolie in an interview with ABCNEWS‘ Barbara Walters:

“He started focusing on certainthings, his music, and different films. I started focusing on traveling a lot, and really wanted to, and knew Cambodia, and really wanted to adopt a child. … Billy and I just became very different people, and that was before Maddox even came home. And, by the time Maddox came home, we were kind of living apart.”

The fervent love they once shared had given way to distance and disconnection. The two stars, who had once basked in the limelight together, no longer had any contact after their separation.

Despite their once passionate and eccentric relationship, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton now have no contact at all. Jolie, who had publicly expressed her affection for Thornton and even inked his name on her body, admits that they have drifted far apart. She insists that her intentions were merely to make her husband happy, believing it to be a natural duty of a wife. She shared:

“I wanted him to feel good. I believe that’s something that you do. That’s something a wife would do, for … to or for her husband. And, and at the time I meant it. I thought he was amazing. And, now I just feel like I don’t know him. … We’re not friends.”

Yet, despite the tumultuous journey, Angelina Jolie maintains she harbors no regrets regarding their marriage. She views it as a learning experience, understanding that mistakes pave the way for personal growth and transformation. She mentioned:
