The following story about a veiled chameleon was submitted by Sandy’s Haven in Idaho.
This veiled chameleon was found in a local backyard. The chameleon was severely underweight at 57.5 grams (about 2 ounces) and dehydrated.
The treatment included subcutaneous lactated ringer’s solution and using an electrolyte soak as well as heat and UVB bulbs.
We tube-fed the chameleon with EmerAid IC Carnivore for four days and then offered mealworms/waxworms.
After three weeks of treatment she weighed in at 116 grams (about 4.1 ounces)!
