The Giulia Coupé is one of the most iconic models in the history of Alfa Romeo: launched in 1963, it supplemented and then permanently replaced the Giulietta Sprint, the first affordable sports car from the Alfa Romeo Make.

Designed by a very young Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, it remained in production until 1976: more than 225,000 Giulia Coupès were built in a host of different versions, starting with the original Giulia Sprint GT, which was later followed by the GT Veloce and by the more popular GT Junior. The car took a leap into another category with the 1750 GTV and 2000 GTV, but the versions which have become legendary are the famous GTA, GTA Junior and GTAm, which dominated the competition scene in the Tourism category across the globe for a decade.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Giulia Coupé and its spin-offs, but also the exact same anniversary celebrated by Autodelta, the official Alfa Romeo racing department, the Italian Alfa Romeo Register will be showcasing two major models in its booth at Auto e Moto d’Epoca: the first is a racing Giulia GTA 1600, outfitted by Autodelta and used for competitions, with some outstanding successes, by one of the most popular drivers among Alfa Romeo fans, namely  Ignazio Giunti. This car is in exceptional condition, exactly as it was when it stopped racing more than 50 years ago, in perfect running order and with small negligible signs due to age. The incredible historical value of the Giulia GTA ex Giunti is emphasised by the fact that it clinched the “best in show” award at the Real Alfa Preservation and Restoration Competition, organised by the Italian Alfa Romeo Register at the Historical Museum of Arese, in 2022.

The second Giulia Coupé on display is a first-production Giulia Sprint GT. This car is in 100% perfect condition: it will be an opportunity for visitors to get up close to a vehicle and draw inspiration for their own restorations.
